Many IT Programs are considered a collection of individual projects but are only afforded basic or ad-hoc project management, which can lead to poor outcomes, scope creep, longer-than-expected timelines, over-budget issues, profit erosion, and even cancellation. By identifying and categorizing a multitude of activities, risks, values, and outcomes, we found that the true value of methodical practices for IT service delivery leadership, and the impacts to the business, are significantly underestimated. Having disciplined and experienced IT service delivery leaders, as well as the methodical practices to which they adhere, becomes more paramount for predictable, high-value outcomes.
