Title: Chief Technology Officer

Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire

Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities:

-Setting a vision for how technology will be used and ensuring alignment between strategy and product offerings.

-Leading efforts to ensure that all data is validated, reproducible, recoverable, auditable, and appropriately secured.

-Defining and executing a clear software roadmap, within the bounds of our staffing and financial resources, considering the following challenges:

  • Development and use of Artificial Intelligence and ML.
  • Continuous updating of clinical trial information and scientific literature-based evidence related to genomic variations.
  • Development of strategies for efficient manual and automated abstracting of PMH and outcomes follow-up.
  • Development of creative solutions to expand VMTB participation and functionality.

-Provide oversight and direction for all software activities including design, development, deployment, support, and maintenance

Knowledge Requirements:

Candidate should have some familiarity with the US cancer data ecosystem, for example:

  • data standards for diagnosis, staging, treatment
  • data transfer technologies such as HL7, FHIR, JSON
  • data modeling such as OMOP, mCODE

Significant healthcare informatics experience including managing integrations with EHRs and maintenance of healthcare security of personally identifiable health information across internal and external collaborations.

Comfortable managing a small, distributed team with staff on multiple continents

Compatible with a patient-centric company mission that prioritizes solutions that benefit patients and providers

History of prior entrepreneurship on a medium to small scale, preferably in healthcare.

A competent, hands-on, outward-facing technical leader with superior communication skills and a history of management of external partnerships and collaborations

Skilled in the languages and architectures typically used in analysis of NGS data (Python, R, etc.).

Qualifications:

10 years of direct experience in Clinical Oncology IT

-5+ years of managerial experience

-Experience leading software development in a regulated environment: Experience with ISO, NIST and HIPAA a plus

-Excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

-Experience working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with researchers and clinicians

-Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment

-Candidate should have superior written and verbal English communication skills

-Candidate should have proven experience maintaining cohesion, communication, and productivity in a remote software team

-Experience building a data architecture to support big data analytics a plus
